Dog Boarding and Grooming

Long Last Kennels was founded in 1945. It was acquired by the present owner in 1980 and has been operating continuously since then.

Chris Jackson, owner operator of Long Last Boarding Kennels with her two Dalmatian dogs Tracer and Shuga.

Chris Jackson, owner and operator, personally oversees the care and feeding of each dog who stays at the kennel. She has been active as an owner/breeder of show dogs since 1972. She has bred and shown many champion Dalmatians in that time. She has taught obedience and show handling classes.

More importantly, her work with dogs has given her a "sense" and "feel" for the needs of her kennel guests. "Home away from home" is what we strive to achieve.

  • We do not use cages - all dogs, or families of dogs, have individual runs with plenty of blankets and bedding. Buildings are heated and air conditioned.

  • We have nine securely fenced yards where our dogs can run and play at no extra charge.

  • Some dogs like to join a play group of dogs their own size. Some dogs like to play ball or Frisbee by themselves. Some dogs just like to sniff smell and run by themselves. However ALL dogs get plenty of time to run, play and relax.

  • Because we usually have no more than 20 dogs boarding at a time, we can give each dog the amount of time and type of play that they prefer.

  • Play times are usually 4-5 times a day - depending on weather conditions.

  • Puppies (over age 4 months) go out in the yard to play and then often follow us around and "help" us to do cleaning and other chores. This allows them to get the extra attention they need as pups.
